Updating Your Personal Information in Dayforce

New phone number or email? Please remember to update your contact details in Dayforce. You can do this by logging into Dayforce and selecting the profile tab on the navigation menu. Once there you can update your phone number or email address by hitting the pencil (edit) icon. Select the Add button on either the phone number or electronic address section and input the new information. At the bottom hit' Submit' and the new information will be sent to the team for uploading. It is important to keep your email and phone info up to date for managers to contact you about work shifts or for important updates that are given through Dayforce.

Beating the Winter Blues

I'm sure you have heard the term "White Christmas", but have you heard the term "Blue Monday"? Blue Monday is typically observed on the third Monday in January. In 2024, it falls on January 15th.

The concept of Blue Monday was first introduced in 2005 as a marketing campaign for a travel company. The formula used to calculate the date takes into account various factors such as weather, debt, time since the holidays, and time when New Year’s resolutions may have failed. While the scientific validity of Blue Monday is questionable, it has led to increased awareness of mental health issues and the importance of supporting those who may be struggling.

Coping with and managing feelings of sadness or depression requires self-care and support. Here are some strategies to help:

Reach Out: Connect with friends, family, or a mental health professional to share your feelings and seek support.

Practice Self-Care: Engage in activities that promote well-being, such as exercise, meditation, or hobbies you enjoy.

Set Realistic Goals: Break tasks into manageable steps to reduce feelings of overwhelm.

Acknowledge Emotions: It’s okay to feel sad, but try to identify and challenge negative thought patterns.

Limit Stressors: Reduce exposure to stressors when possible, and prioritize self-compassion.

Looking to nurture your well-being in 2024? Check out the many useful support and resources available through HHF's TELUS Health Employee Assistance Program (EAP) sign in link, found on the right of your Dayforce homepage.

Applying for Internal Positions

If you are interested in applying for an internal position, please follow these steps:

  • Review the qualifications and requirements of the position. Consider these questions: Am I able to demonstrate I have the training and skills needed for the position? Do I meet the qualifications? Am I able to commit to the schedule?
  • Discuss the opportunity with your manager. Remember they will be used as your reference during this process.
  • Complete an internal application form. This form will be directly submitted to the hiring manager and HR. Please do not go through Indeed. We want your resume at the top of our pile.
  • Prepare for the interview. Ask your manager for any tips they can share with you. Consider preparing examples of when you demonstrated behaviours relating to HHF's Vision, Missions, and Values. Use the STAR method when providing your answers. (Situation: Set the scene and give the necessary details of your example; Task: Describe what your responsibility was in that situation; Action: Explain exactly what steps you took to address it; Result: Share what outcomes your actions achieved)
  • Attend the interview. Be on time and prepared to demonstrate why you are the best candidate for the position.
  • If you are not successful, ask the hiring manager what you could have done differently to learn for the next opportunity available for you.

HHF is committed to seeing our staff grow within the organization. Please ask how you might be able to do to prepare you for that next opportunity
