Named in honour of former Alberta Legislative Assembly Member and Mayor of Fort Saskatchewan, Muriel Ross Abdurahman, the Muriel Ross Abdurahman Court will bring 83-units of near-market housing to Fort Saskatchewan. Construction is underway with a completion target of Winter 2023. Applications are expected to open in Fall 2022.
The complex will be built using an innovative design that incorporates traditional wood construction and modular elements like shipping containers. Furthering Heartland Housing Foundation's commitment to sustainability, the building's energy performance will be at net-zero levels through the use of solar power and other green energy features.
The building will feature a range of unit sizes with studio, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units with rents targeting approximately 20% below market. Additionally, about a quarter of all the units will be purpose-built to meet the accessibility needs of individuals served by our partners Robin Hood Association.
