How Our Waitlists Work

ย

Housing demand throughout our region remains high. Waitlist positions can change as applicant circumstances change and new applications are received. Because waitlists are dynamic and continually updated, we cannot advise applicants how long they may wait for housing.

Seniors Lodges

Our lodge waitlists are based on several criteria used to determine an applicantโ€™s need.

โ€ข Risk (health and safety related) โ€ข Degree of independence
โ€ข Housing needs โ€ข Moving from a current Heartland building
โ€ข Living in the community or moving closer to family โ€ข Income

Income is based on the Lodge Assistance Program Income Threshold and whether the applicant is eligible to receive Alberta Seniors Benefit.

The waitlist is the list of all applicant households in decreasing order, from highest priority (point score) to lowest priority (point score). The waitlist can change as a householdโ€™s situation changes or additional applicants join the list.

Because the waitlist is always shifting, we cannot advise applicants how long they will wait for housing.

Seniors Affordable Apartments (Rent-Geared-to-Income)

The wait-list for our seniors affordable apartments is based mainly on the income level of the applicant.

To qualify, the applicant must fit the required criteria and is then rated based on how high a percentage of their monthly income is currently going toward rent.

Near-Market Apartments

Eligible applications for our near-market housing are chronological.
